An electrocardiogram is a picture of the electrical conduction of the heart. By examining changes from normal on the ECG, clinicians can identify a multitude of cardiac disease processes. The ability to quickly and accurately interpret a 12 lead ECG is an important part of routine and emergency patient care for a wide range of healthcare professionals. The Certificate Course in ECG Interpretation has been developed to provide the participants a high level of knowledge and skills in ECG interpretation and help them recognize a wide variety of clinical abnormalities.

The course will provide the students a thorough understanding of the components of the ECG waveform, recognition and interpretation of cardiac rhythms, and diagnosing abnormal conditions using ECG patterns. Throughout the course, you will be provided self-assessment ECGs to practice your diagnostic skills.

Using a mixture of 3D animation, audio narrative, images, detailed text, and clinical cases, this course will take you through the fundamentals of ECGs, including:

• Basic cardiac anatomy and physiology
• The practicalities of making an ECG trace
• A solid system for interpreting ECGs
• Problems of rate and rhythm, including bradycardia, tachycardia and atrial fibrillation
• Myocardial infarction
• Diagnostic testing
• Cardiac muscle disease and congenital heart disease

Each condition is illustrated with high resolution ECGs which can be interactively zoomed and measured on your screen. The modules conclude with multiple choice questions that will test your learning and help you to gain further confidence in your skills.

After completion of this course, there are numerous openings you may find as an ECG Technician. Every Hospital, Clinic, Medical Centre requires an ECG Technician at their place.
